Thai iced tea is one of the best drinks to quench that this summer. Let's understand the facts of Thai tea.
History
When we think of Thai tea, we automatically assume for it to have that deep milky orange color along with taste notes of spiced flavors. But that's not the case when looking into the history of this wonderful drink. It is unclear when Thai tea was invented, though many speculate that it was a lingering influence of Field Marshal Pibul Songkarm, a Thai leader with a penchant for western culture.
Eventually becoming a staple of Thai street food. Thai food was of great influence on North America for which Thai ice tea was right on the list. Chefs started using orange food coloring as well as spices to distinguish it from the regular latte. Least not forget, also adding a ton of sugar since we know how much we love our sugary drinks.
Recipe
Ingredients
1 cups Thai tea Mix
5 cups of water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cups half and half
1/2 cup evaporated milk
ice
Procedure
1) Bring the water to a boil and add the Thai tea mix. Add sugar and stir till all the sugar is dissolved. boil the tea for about 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
2) Allow the tea to steep for a minimum of 30 minutes.
3) Strain the mix. Set aside to cool.
4) Fill the glass with Thai tea sparing enough room at the top to pour the cream as well as evaporated milk mix.
5) Serve super chilled.
